The three-phase model

You don't change an operating system like ripping off a plaster. We take it step by step, Windows stays until the very end – and you set the pace.

In the EU, Windows 10 gets security updates until 12 October 2027 – enough time for a calm switch.

Before: a free 15-minute intro call. Tell me what you do with your computer – then we'll see together whether Linux suits you.

  1. Phase 1 Software – you stay on Windows
    • First I want to understand how you work and what matters to you.
    • Almost every Linux alternative also runs on Windows. So you get used to the new programs at your own pace – you may already know some.
    • Before anything changes, I make a complete backup of your data.

    Move on when you feel at home with the new programs.

  2. Phase 2 Test environment – Linux in parallel
    • Linux is added in parallel. Every time you switch on, you decide what you work with.
    • We choose the Linux that suits you together. Your data comes along, and I show you everything at your pace.
    • Nothing gets lost, and I'm there for your questions. Windows is just one restart away.

    Move on when Windows has been gathering dust for weeks – no pressure at all.

  3. Phase 3 Your decision – Windows goes or stays
    • If you no longer need Windows, we clear it away and Linux gets the space. If a program only runs there, Windows simply stays.
    • We clear up your last questions together – only then is your switch complete.

What it costs

At most €199 of labour per computer. You pay for the time I actually need until your switch is complete. If it takes longer, that's my risk. Questions by e-mail are always free.

  • €59/hr up to the €199 limit
  • €39/hr for seniors – same limit, so more time
  • + parts if needed such as a second drive. You can also bring your own.
  • + the drive there when I come to you, the way back is on me. Bring your computer by and there is nothing to add.

Stop after phase 1 and you only pay for the time until then.

Common questions

Can I go back to Windows?
Yes. Until the end of phase 3, Windows is always one restart away, and it is only removed if you want it to be.
Do I have to set everything up again?
No. I move your data, and what you use every day we have tried out beforehand. Start menu, taskbar and folders look familiar.
How long does the switch take?
As long as you need. Some go through the three phases in a few days, others stay in phase 2 for weeks. The price doesn't change.
