The three-phase model

You don't change an operating system like ripping off a plaster. You go step by step, Windows stays as a fallback until the very end – and you decide when to move on.

In the EU, Windows 10 gets security updates until 12 October 2027 – enough time for a calm switch.

Before: a free 15-minute intro call. We check whether Linux runs on your computer and which programs you need. Should something not fit, you'll know right away.

  1. Phase 1 Prepare – still on Windows
    • Taking stock: I look at what you work with – programs, devices, data.
    • I make a complete backup of your data.
    • What you use every day, we try out before anything changes.

    Move on when everything feels familiar. You set the pace.

  2. Phase 2 Linux in parallel – your everyday life moves over
    • Linux is installed in parallel with Windows. Windows stays as it is.
    • Your data comes along, and I show you how everything works.
    • You use Linux in everyday life. We sort out questions as they come up.

    Move on when you no longer miss Windows. You set the pace.

  3. Phase 3 Wrapping up – switch complete
    • Windows goes, and its space belongs to Linux. If you still need it for a program, it stays.
    • One last look at everything, and your switch is complete.

What it costs

At most €199 of labour per computer. You pay for the time I actually need – until your switch is complete. If it takes longer, that's my risk. Questions by e-mail are free, as always.

  • €59/hr up to the €199 limit
  • €39/hr for seniors – same limit, so more time
  • + parts if needed such as a second drive. You can also bring your own.

Stop after phase 1 and you only pay for the time until then.

Common questions

Can I go back to Windows?
Yes. Until the end of phase 3, Windows is always one restart away, and it is only removed if you want it to be.
Do I have to set everything up again?
No. I move your data, and what you use every day we have tried out beforehand. Start menu, taskbar and folders look familiar.
How long does the switch take?
As long as you need. Some go through the three phases in a few days, others stay in phase 2 for weeks. The price doesn't change.
