I'm Oliver – most people call me Oli.

My day job is in IT. Neustart-Linux.de is my deliberate counterbalance: small, personal, close to people. I use Linux privately, in the workshop and at work.

My career path was anything but linear:
After training as an IT specialist, my route led me via the German Abitur into Michelin-starred kitchens – and from there back into IT.

Those years at the pass – the station where every dish gets its final check – shaped me. That is where I learned what craftsmanship really means:

Absolute precision. Reliability. A result that has to convince without excuses.

Today I bring both together: experience from IT operations and the attitude of a craftsman.

What matters to me is people – and keeping their technology alive. I help where technology loses touch with its user – or where others have already given up.

My experience

In my day job I look after the entire on-site IT operation: from advising people at their desks through computers, repairs and the network to on-call duty.

I train people, coordinate projects and build bridges – between technology and the people who work with it. On top of that I automate and digitalise processes, work with AI and keep an eye on new technology early.

In the workshop every job runs through a ticket system too – my own, open, tailored to a one-person business. That keeps my prices low, and your data stays safe with me.

How I work

Technology is always connected to a person. That is why every job starts with a conversation: What stopped working, since when, and what matters to you about it?

Technical assessment

Only then follows the technical view: causes, connections and possible risks.

I don't take devices apart on a hunch or stress them unnecessarily – that way as much as possible stays original, and the risk stays small.

Patience and honesty

Often, more can be achieved than is visible at first. Sometimes it takes a lot of patience or unusual approaches.

And if a repair isn't worth it, you'll know before time or money is lost.

Volunteering and engagement

Alongside the business I volunteer at the local Repair Café, helping to keep devices alive that would otherwise end up in the bin – the same idea, just without an invoice.

I also support Digitalcourage, a German association for civil rights and privacy online, I'm part of the End of 10 campaign and in touch with the Linux Professional Institute and the Linux Presentation Day.
